Xiaohongshu just jumped into the large-model race, too.
On August 14, Xiaohongshu's dots lab open-sourced a new model called dots3-note—280 billion parameters, able to read text, understand images, and hear audio. More importantly, in tests that measure how well AI "gets work done," it scored higher than the strongest US open-weight model.
The news had people marveling: China's open-source large models are now popping up "one per week."
But here's a question worth asking: as models multiply and get stronger, is that actually good news for you—or a headache?
