WeCom AI Agent "Dayuan" Enters Beta: An Assistant That Lives Inside Your Work App — No Need to Repeat Context

📖 Glossary

AI Box (also known as Agent Computer / Agent PC), is a dedicated local hardware device that runs AI Agents. Pre-installed with an AI agent management system, plug-and-play, running 24/7. Users can remotely command AI to work via Discord, Slack, Telegram, WhatsApp, and more.

Abstract: Tencent PR director Zhang Jun confirmed on June 23 that WeCom (Enterprise WeChat) is launching an AI Agent called "Dayuan," now in closed beta. Dayuan can read existing work data — group chats, documents, meetings, emails, and calendars — to automatically understand user requests. Swipe left to summon. It recognizes your current screen.

WeChat is building AI. WeCom is building AI too.

On June 23, Tencent PR director Zhang Jun posted on social media confirming that WeCom will soon launch an AI Agent called "Dayuan" (大圆), currently in closed beta.

What Is Dayuan

Zhang Jun's words: Dayuan is more like an AI assistant that "lives inside WeCom."

The key phrase is "lives inside." It's not an AI tool you install inside WeCom — the AI is embedded in WeCom's workflow itself.

Unlike WeChat's AI assistant "Xiaowei" — designed for consumers — Dayuan is built for enterprise users.

Three Design Principles

1. No Need to Repeat Context

Current AI chat products share a common flaw: every new conversation requires you to re-establish background. "I work in XX, my current project is XX, I need you to help me with XX."

Dayuan's solution: it directly reads existing work data in WeCom. Your group chat history, documents, meeting notes, email threads, calendar entries — it already knows. You ask "Was the proposal from last week finalized?" and it knows which group, which proposal, which meeting you're referring to.

This is the core difference between enterprise AI and general-purpose AI: enterprise data itself is the context. Users don't need to "feed" information every time.

2. Swipe Left to Summon

Dayuan's interaction design is lightweight: anywhere in WeCom, swipe left to bring it up. It also intelligently recognizes your current screen — if you're viewing a document, it knows you're asking about that document; if you're in a group chat, it knows you're asking about that group's context.

No need to open a dedicated dialog box. No need to navigate to a specific entry point. It's just there, ready when you need it.

3. Scene Recognition Over Keyword Matching

Dayuan isn't a keyword-matching auto-reply. It understands scenes.

Example: you see a client in a customer group asking "When will this feature ship?" You swipe left and ask Dayuan "How should I respond?" Dayuan knows which customer group you're in, knows the product timeline from previous discussions, and drafts a reply that's professional and reassuring.

You don't have to tell it "I need a reply about the feature timeline for a client." It infers that from the scene itself.

WeChat + WeCom: Dual AI Product Lines

WeChat has "Xiaowei." WeCom has "Dayuan." Two product lines, two scenarios.

Xiaowei targets 1.4 billion consumers, solving daily life problems. Dayuan targets enterprise users, solving workplace efficiency problems.

But the most notable aspect is the connection between the two: WeCom natively connects to WeChat. Zhang Jun mentioned that this means Dayuan may not only serve internal enterprise collaboration but could also extend into customer engagement scenarios.

In other words: you use Dayuan inside WeCom for internal work, and Dayuan might also help you manage customers on WeChat. Internal enterprise + external customers, one Agent covering both ends.

Cloud Agent vs. Local Agent: Different Strengths

Dayuan is a cloud Agent — data is stored on Tencent's servers, processed by Tencent's models. The advantage is zero friction: no hardware to install, just swipe left in WeCom and it works.

But there are limitations: all your enterprise work data passes through Tencent's cloud. For most companies, that's fine. But for scenarios involving core trade secrets, customer privacy, or financial data, some enterprises will have concerns.

This is where local Agents fill a gap — data stays on your own device, never passing through any third-party server. Cloud Agents for convenience, local Agents for privacy. They're not contradictory; they're complementary.
